GENDER QUOTAS AND ELECTION LAW DESIGN

Nearly 90 countries require that political parties nominate certain proportions of women or that legislatures set aside certain numbers of seats for women. My work suggests how these ‘gender quota laws’ can be designed for maximum effect.
